Why is FEA so cool?

We try. But most of all, FEA is but an idea that sparked from genuine curiosity and born out of humble beginnings.

Food is an *experience* in our culture and this includes the beverages too (hence how boba was born!). So much thought is put into the ingredients and the way food is prepared. We wanted to take the same approach with our protein and create a supplement that delivered on both the taste AND the experience of drinking boba.

We noticed very little representation of our flavours in this industry and decided to completely reinvent what protein was about! (AKA more than just something you scoff down within your anabolic window after the gym).

Protein Powder FAQ

Do I need protein?

Protein is essential to a multitude of processes in our bodies (muscles, bones, hormones, enzymes, energy, it goes on!). Everyone needs protein, but how much of it will vary greatly between each individual. Those with higher activity levels will require more protein to recover, maintain and build muscle. As such, protein supplements make it quick, easy and convenient to get a high dose in without having to cook anything.

Is protein powder only for bodybuilders?

No, protein powder can be used by anyone who needs to increase their protein intake, including those engaged in various sports, individuals with specific dietary restrictions, or those looking to support weight loss.

How can protein powder help me reach my goals?

People use protein powder to supplement their protein intake, especially if they have difficulty meeting their protein needs through whole foods. It's popular among athletes, fitness enthusiasts, and those looking to build or maintain muscle mass.

How much protein should I consume daily?

Protein needs vary based on factors such as age, weight, activity level, and fitness goals. It's best to consult with a nutritionist or healthcare professional for personalised recommendations.

How do I choose the right protein powder for my goals?

Consider factors such as your dietary preferences, any allergies or sensitivities, and your fitness goals.

Will protein make me bulky?

No. Protein can aid in building muscle, but protein alone will not make you bulky! It can take months, even years of vigorous training and exercise to build mass that is perceived as bulky.

Will protein supplements make me fat?

No! Protein has been studied extensively and shown to promote weight LOSS, rather than weight gain due to its satiating properties. However, it is important to remember that weight/fat gain is due to a surplus of calories and as such, an excess of any kind of food (no matter how "healthy") can lead to weight gain. Our proteins are designed to complement healthy lifestyles without excess calories, but we always recommend that you speak to a health professional if you are unsure of whether supplements are right for you.

Can I use protein powder during pregnancy?

Pregnant women should consult their healthcare provider before using protein powder or any other supplements to ensure it aligns with their individual health needs.

Can I build muscle without using protein powder?

Yes, it is possible to build muscle without protein powder by consuming sufficient protein from whole food sources. Protein powder is a convenient supplement but not a requirement for muscle growth.

Can I mix protein powder with water, milk, or other liquids?

Yes, protein powder can be mixed with water, milk, or blended into smoothies based on your personal preference.

Can I use protein powder for weight gain?

Yes, protein powder can be part of a weight gain strategy when combined with a calorie surplus. However, it's important to focus on overall nutrition and include a variety of nutrient-dense foods.

Can I cook or bake with protein powder?

Yes, many protein powders can be used in cooking or baking to boost the protein content of recipes. However, the texture and taste may vary, so it's a good idea to experiment with small amounts first.

Can I use protein powder if I have allergies?

People with allergies, especially to dairy or soy, should choose protein powders that are free from allergens. Common allergen-free options include pea protein, rice protein, or hemp protein.

Can I use protein powder as a meal replacement?

While protein powder can contribute to your daily protein intake, it's generally not recommended to use it as a complete meal replacement. Protein powder should be used in conjunction with a diet of diverse and nutritious foods.

It's generally better to use protein shakes as a supplement rather than a complete meal replacement.

Can protein powder expire?

Yes, protein powder can expire. Check the expiration date on the packaging, and if it's past the date, it's best to discard the product. Proper storage can also help prolong the shelf life.

How should I store protein powder?

Store protein powder in a cool, dry place, and keep the container tightly sealed to prevent moisture and contaminants. Avoid exposure to direct sunlight.

Is it okay to mix different types of protein powders?

Mixing different protein powders can be beneficial as it provides a more comprehensive amino acid profile. For example, combining whey and casein can offer both fast- and slow-digesting proteins.

What is the difference between BCAAs and protein powder?

Branched-chain amino acids (BCAAs) are a subset of amino acids found in protein. Protein powder (in general), provide a complete spectrum of amino acids (all 9 essential amino acids).

When is the best time to consume protein powder?

Timing is all up to individual preference and goals. Some prefer consuming protein powder post-workout for muscle recovery, while others use it as a snack or part of a meal.

Are there any side effects of protein powder?

In general, protein powder is safe for most people when used as directed. However, excessive protein intake can lead to digestive issues. Please consult a healthcare professional if you have concerns about using protein supplements.

Do I need to drink more water when consuming protein powder?

Protein metabolism may increase your body's water needs, so it's advisable to stay adequately hydrated, especially when consuming higher amounts of protein. However, individual hydration needs vary.

Is it necessary to take protein powder on rest days too?

Protein is important for muscle repair and recovery, so consuming protein on rest days can still be beneficial. Adjust the amount as needed based on your overall daily protein needs and your preferences.
